In Poland, there are several types of residence permits (VNZh):
1. **Temporary residence card (Karta pobytu czasowego)** - issued for a period of 1 to 3 years. Grounds for receipt:
- work,
- study,
- business,
- family ties (for example, with a Polish citizen).
2. **Permanent residence card (Karta stałego pobytu)** - issued on an indefinite basis, but the document needs to be updated every 10 years. Grounds for receipt:
- residence in Poland for at least 5 years on the basis of a temporary VNZh,
- family ties,
- possession of a Polish Card.
3. **Long-term EU resident card (Pobyt rezydenta długoterminowego UE)** - for foreigners who have lived in Poland for at least 5 years and meet certain conditions.
There are also special statuses, such as **UKR status** for Ukrainian citizens, which allows them to legally live and work in Poland, as well as **temporary protection** for Ukrainians who arrived after February 24, 2022【4:0†source】【4:1†source】【4:2†source】.
