The main categories are temporary residence, permanent residence and EU long-term-resident status. Temporary permission depends on the purpose and may last up to three years. Permanent and EU long-term-resident permission are indefinite, but the physical cards require replacement. Each category has different eligibility conditions; having a job or business does not automatically qualify you for any permit.
